IT Connections

Information Services is the new name for the division that supports the use of information technology resources in education, research, and administrative support. Within this division are units for Academic Services, Administrative Services, Network Services, and Telecommunications. The Academic Services group provides consulting help and application support to faculty, staff and students; Administrative Services provides programming, database administration, and web services support for core administrative applications such as finance, student records, and human resources; Network Services builds and maintains the cable and wireless network infrastructure for the university; and Telecommunications builds and maintains campus phone service, two-way radio systems, and cable television, and provides video conferencing assistance to university departments. The Information Services name is also used to describe a broad range of services that are offered by information technology professionals that work within schools, academic support units, and administrative offices. The transformation of the old Computing News into a publication with a university-wide perspective will include bringing attention to the work being done by these professionals and the faculty, students and administrators they support. We look forward to working with the community on this endeavor in the days to come.
