Abstract:
The Crook County Comprehensive Land Use Plan was adopted in 1978 and has been in
use by the County since that time. Over the years, there have been 49 amendments to the maps
and text and, in recent years, there have been minor amendments to the amendments—
particularly in the Powell Butte area. This document represents a codified version of the
County’s Comprehensive Plan. The purpose is to update the Plan to make it easier to use by the
elected and appointed officials of Crook County and by the average citizen needing to glean
information from it.The Crook County Comprehensive Plan, as it was adopted in 1978, also included the City
of Prineville. That City is now working on its own updated Plan. All of the material in the
County Plan that was specific to Prineville has been removed from the main text and placed in a
separate file in the Crook County Planning Department. Until the Crook County Plan is updated
and the material officially deleted, it is still part of the Crook County Plan. For questions
regarding the material, you should contact the Crook County Planning Department. [From the Plan]
