Anderson, Elaine Joyce2025-02-262025-02-261933-08https://hdl.handle.net/1794/3049080 pagesReading is becoming more and more widely recognized as a potent factor in scholastic success. Only recently has this fact been acknowledged in connection with work on the college level. Previously it was assumed that students learned all the reading necessary for .future life in the elementary school. Teaching secondary school students to read would have been considered unnecessary; whereas teaching college students reading would have been thought ludicrous. In contradiction to this old belief, which is still somewhat prevalent, recent studies have revealed that many people enrolled in the higher institutions of the country do not know how to read adequately.en-USCreative Commons BY-NC-ND 4.0-USUO theses and dissertations are provided for research and educational purposes and may be under copyright by the author or the author’s heirs.
