Illustrating a series of paintings by the famous Italian artist, Orazio Gentileschi (1563-1639), I demonstrate that what might be broadly similar in description -- paintings showing the biblical story of Lot following the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah -- can be wholly different in depiction, even by the same artist.
