The Hosmer Lake project area lies along the eastern slopes of the Cascade Range, about a mile east and south of Elk Lake and about 35 miles southwest of Bend. Captured May 22, 2007.Proposes to take remedial action against ecosystem degradation of Hosmer lake, after it was withdrawn as a portion of the Cascade Lakes restoration environmental assessment. Includes construction of a new 11 vehicle parking area near the boat ramp access road, replacing the boat ramp toilet with one meeting ADA standards, implementing 3 dispersed camping zones on the Lake and reducing the number of camps from 13 to 8, providing international and interpretative signing at the parking areas, closing the northernmost island to human use for at least 5 years to determine effectiveness for nesting waterfowl, shore birds, and neotropical migrant birds, and seasonally closing the remaining two islands to mitigate damage to nesting eagles.
