This study explores security strengths and weaknesses of this technology within the context of green IT. Selected literature published from 2005 through 2010 is examined. Common attacks, security strengths, and security weaknesses are presented. Green benefits of virtualization and eight recommended security controls are identified to maximize nine positive security features, for use by IT security professionals.en-USVirtualizationVirtualizeSecurityInfosecGreen ITGreen computingInformation securityEnergy savingsGreen technologyData centerSecurity strengthsSecurity weaknessesApplied Information ManagementAIMDataSecurity Strengths Weaknesses of Virtualization as a Green Computing SolutionOther
