The main goal of this project is to create a sense of unity within the community. This is achieved by creating public spaces; the site is broken into 3 public courtyards which each unit faces. Creating a new collaborative community so close to the core of Woodburn, it is important for the residents of Nuevo Amanacer IV to have an identity of their own, while acnowledging the surrounding community. The units are sized to be similar in street dimension to the other homes along second street. The hight and density is kept lower near the street and rises up along the east and northern edges of the site. The open courtyard encourages the neighbors to use the site and interact with its residents.Item Open Access Shaping Light: Sunshade Studies for Gresham City Hall and Rockwood/Civic Drive Light Rail Station Designs(University of Oregon, 2009) Meier, Sina; Cheng, NancyThis course was comprised of three major exercises: the design of a light modulating screen; the design of a sun shading device for Gresham City Hall’s west-facing facade; and the design of a light rail station at Civic Drive and Rockwood Station. This report describes in detail all three projects and includes samples of student work as well as findings and design recommendations.
