Item Open Access Shapes of Each Other(University of Oregon, 2015) Oseth, Olga O.This piece is based on the idea of how distinctive natures compliment each other in creation of unique art. Duration of the composition is ca.8 minutes. Sound material contains field recordings of engines and female vocal recording of text. The text is entitled Not intrigued with Evening from Soul of Rumi by Mewalan Jalaluddin Rumi. Big thanks to my friends, who dedicated their time to recording sessions. Shapes of Each Other is performed using Symbolic Sound’s Kyma, which allows the performer to manipulate sound in real time by interacting with the sound environment using data received from eMotion Technology. The instrument itself is called ларец- a small chest that stores delicate gems.Item Open Access Sound Recordings to Musical Journeys: A Digital Portfolio Dissertation of Seven Electroacoustic Compositions for Data-Driven Instruments(University of Oregon, 2019-06) Oseth, Olga O.; Stolet, JeffreyThis Digital Portfolio Dissertation presents seven original real-time electroacoustic compositions that employ data-driven instruments, videos of their performances, associated files needed to perform the works, and a text document that describes the seven compositions. Each of the seven compositions began with recorded material that was subsequently transformed into musical experiences and journeys. I used Symbolic Sound's Kyma to execute the sonic transformations. Each of the seven compositions employed different performance interfaces and required different performance techniques. The control data, data mapping strategies, technical configurations, and sound-producing algorithms were all elements of my data-driven instruments. The individual capability of the interfaces, embodiment, as well as my choice of interaction with my interfaces were elements of performance techniques. In the written document I will discuss how my seven compositions were transformed from sound recordings to musical journeys focusing on musical, technical, and creative concepts.
