An initial project of this position has been the development and implementation of a science data services needs assessment for researchers in the natural sciences. Faculty in biology, chemistry, human physiology, geology, physics, and psychology were interviewed. The assessment and ongoing conversations with faculty are guiding the next steps in developing research data services. The assessment laid the groundwork for greater collaboration among stakeholders, and provided an entree for conversations about the utility of library and information management skills toward meeting data management needs. The poster summarizes the development and implementation of the assessment, including resources, such as the Data Audit Framework (DCC/HATII) and data curation profiles (Purdue Libraries), that were sources for many of the interview questions. It also relates some of the outcomes of the assessment, and some of the issues and barriers that were encountered.Item Open Access COPPUL’s Ongoing Role in Digital Collections: Discussion Paper(COPPUL, 2008-09) Hixson, Carol G.; Hickerson, Tom; Schafer, SteveItem Open Access The Development of the collection of the University of Oregon Library : policies and practices, 1875-198_(University of Oregon Library, 1988) McCollough, Robert R.Item Open Access Digital Collections at the Dr. John Archer Library: Position Paper(Dr. John Archer Library, University of Regina, 2008-09-02) Hixson, Carol G.Item Open Access Digital Library Program Mission Statement(University of Oregon Libraries, 2006-01-06) Hixson, Carol G.Revised and approved by Library Council January 6, 2006Item Open Access Digital Preservation and COPPUL Libraries(COPPUL, 2007-09-22) Hixson, Carol G.; Schafer, SteveItem Open Access DS checkout(2008-04-17T01:13:41Z) Nesselroad, LaraItem Open Access Ed Tech Survey, 2006: Instructors(2006-09-14T20:22:13Z) Bonamici, Andrew R.; Smith, Dale; University of Oregon. In this examination, imagery of the 2014 Oso, Washington landslide was captured on site in a 30-minute period. Using Structure-from-Motion technology, the slide was converted into a spatially tagged 3D object that was imported into a GIS system and displayed as 3D model in systems such as Google Earth.Item Open Access Guin Auction(2014-09-30) Butler, Barbara A.Item Open Access Habitat Restoration & GIS Analysis of a Salmon Stream: Soda Fork Creek, South Santiam Basin, Linn County, Oregon(Socieity for Conservation GIS, 2016-06) Walton, Dean; Stroud, Kathy; Lawless, Stephanie; Arnold, Amber; Bulgarelli, Kaitlyn; Clement, Lilli; Dally, Jessica; Eberhardt, Lillian; Harlan, Zachary; Johnson, Zoe; Kadrmas, Lily; Weybright, Jared; McAndrews, Aaron; Reeder, Ethan; Perez, Sophia; Weber, Jennifer; Mosely, JenniferThe Soda Fork Creek project was designed by the Willamette National Forest Sweet Home Ranger District and the South Santiam Watershed Council to improve spawning habitat and stream complexity in Soda Fork Creek. The project involved pulling 34 large, live, stream-adjacent trees with root wads attached, into the stream channel. The total cost was $128,000, which included a large skidder outfitted with a 40,000 pound winch that pulled the trees into the water. Soda Fork Creek provides important spawning habitat for native fish species, such as the threatened winter steelhead. The habitat in the creek has been impacted by land use practices such as timber harvesting, road building, and active removal of large wood from the stream channel. The removal of large wood allowed the gravels to be washed away, leaving no spawning habitat. Threatened winter steelhead have not spawned in this stream for decades. This research looks at how dropping trees into the Soda Creek System changed stream conditions and whether these changes improved habit for native fish species.
