Item Open Access Ideologies of the Men's Movement(1989-08) Williams, Larry S.In this paper I shall argue that a shift in state ideology has contributed to greater visibility for one ideological segment of the men's movement whom I call the "masculinists." The masculinists join with restrictive liberals to argue that feminism has gone too far and that radical feminists, in particular, are demanding too much. I contrast the masculinist men with pro-feminist and traditionalist men in their respective ideologies, their relation to state ideology and patriarchy, and their ability to attain public visibility.
