Announces decision to implement Alternative B of the project EA, to thin 2463 acres, yielding a gross estimate of 47.8 million board feet of wood products that would be sold over 3 years beginning in fiscal year 2008. The objectives would be to restore structural diversity in stem exclusion stands to enhance wildlife habitat, accelerate restoration of late-successional conditions for stands within riparian reserves, provide a sustainable supply of wood in support of the local and regional economy, restore "open oak savannah" stands where they were historically present, restore degraded roads infrastructure, improve the role of fire as a natural disturbance process in the ecosystem, and protect and maintain water quality and reduce hazardous fuel levels in the watershed for commodities in the wildland-urban interfaces.

Proposes to implement a Master Plan that identifies a variety of improvements proposed to upgrade facilities and services for campers, comply with Americans with Disabilities Act and other special requirements, enhance the natural environment, improve transportation circulation and access, provide additional recreation opportunities, and maintain the historic character of the camp. Includes construction of ten new camper cabins, commons and multipurpose buildings, swimming pool, and the development of a recreational vehicle area and new parking spaces.

Fish Lake interpretive facility environmental assessment

Proposes actions to develop an interpretive gateway facility to the historic Fish Lake Remount Depot, educating the public about the site's significance, making historic features more visible and accessible, and controlling visitor flow. Includes reconstruction of existing access roads, traffic flow reconfiguration and landscaping, restoration of lakeshore riparian areas, maintaining an ADA accessible toilet, and development of parking areas, pedestrian walkways, picnic facilities, interpretive sign kiosks, and vehicle and pedestrian access controls.

Hartz young stand management decision notice and finding of no significant impact

Announces decision to implement Alternative 4 of project EA, harvesting 706 acres, including 563 acres of thinning and 143 acres of regeneration harvest to be done later. This alternative will reduce the stand diversity index (SDI) levels to 20% to 30% of maximum, with heavy thinning of 513 acres leaving approximately 45 to 65 trees per acre. Some 2050 feet of temporary roads will be built, with 7.76 miles of road closures, and 26.8 miles of reconstruction.

Hoodoo alpine slide environmental assessment

Proposes to amend the Special Use Permit to authorize Hoodoo Ski Area to construct and operate a summer use alpine slide within their permit area, estimated to be 3040 feet in length from the top of a central ski run to the base of a chairlift. Approximately 50 trees, 6" to 14" dbh will be removed, resulting in less than one acre of clearing to install and operate the slide. Disturbed ground will be planted with native vegetation to reduce the spread and introduction of noxious weeds and to reduce erosion.

Nineteen Road salvage timber sale project environmental assessment

Proposes to fall about 204 hazardous trees in 18 acres adjacent to Forest Service Road 19, and include 168 trees in a salvage timber sale that would yield an estimated 200 thousand board feet. The remaining 36 trees would be left on site to contribute either to large woody material or for stream restoration purposes.

Research vegetation control environmental assessment

The McKenzie River Ranger District (MRRD) on the Willamette National Forest (WNF) proposes to treat competing vegetation occupying research plots on approximately 5416 m2 with glyphosate. This treatment may occur at a yearly frequency for the next 10 years. The purpose of the project is to effectively remove vegetation interfering with the objectives of the research proposals. This action is tiered to the Willamette National Forest Invasive Plant EA (2007) and to direction provided in the Pacific Northwest Region Invasive Plant Program, Preventing and Managing Invasive Plants Record of Decision (USDA Forest Service 2005a). The proposed action includes manual and/or herbicide treatment methods.

Santiam Pass summer motorized recreation project environmental assessment

Proposes to develop and implement formal management of OHV use within the Santiam Wagon Road and Sand Mountain Special Interest Areas, the Big Lake Campground Complex, and the Hoodoo Ski Area. Includes designating a system of roads and trails for motorized recreation vehicle use, rehabilitating existing motorized recreation vehicle-impacts to the Santiam Wagon Road, and providing family-oriented recreation experiences.

Proposes salvaging about 70 thousand board feet (MBF) of windthrown trees (about 15 log truck loads), felling about 31 hazard trees along the six-mile haul route as part of a timber sale contract intended to mitigate impacts to TE&S species, soils and riparian resources, and minimize noxious weeds. Skyline and ground base equipment would be used to remove the logs.

Proposes to fall 205 hazardous trees on 22 acres adjacent to state and federal highways, and include 171 trees in a salvage timber sale that would yield an estimated 100 thousand board feet. The remaining 34 trees, including 6 that are within Riparian Reserves, would remain on the site felled, either to contribute to large woody material, or for stream restoration purposes.

Trailbridge blowdown salvage project decision memo

Announces decision to implement project removing approximately 185 wind-thrown and root sprung trees from 17 acres located along the McKenzie River near a section of the McKenzie River National Recreation Trail above the Trail Bridge Reservoir. The trees, blown down by a December 2006 storm, will be sold at a timber sale and yield approximately 190,000 board feet of merchantable wood products.
