dc.description.abstract | The George C. Cooley Cottage, located at 220 Blakely Avenue in Brownsville, Oregon, survives as an excellent example of vernacular Classical Revival architecture in Oregon. The building is presently owned by the Brownsville Restoration Society, a group of Brownsville residents who joined together to purchase the house and save it from almost certain loss. Through their volunteer efforts they hope to rehabilitate the house, thereby assuring its survival and continued use for many years to come. This historic structure report is an investigation of the Cooley Cottage, its purpose being to determine the past history and use of the building, to examine the present condition of the building, and to make recommendations for the preservation and rehabilitation of the building. The guidelines and recommendations found in this report will be used by the Brownsville Restoration Society in helping them make decisions concerning the rehabilitation of the George C. Cooley Cottage. | en_US |
