| dc.description.abstract | After World War II the Chinese mainland fell into civil war between the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and the Republic of China (ROC). The leaders of the ROC fell back to Taiwan and formed, essentially, a new nation. This research project explores Chinese and Taiwanese relations, specifically from a Taiwanese perspective. Through the study of various branches of connection between the U.S, China, and Taiwan, this research demonstrates a unique complexity. This research, also, examines the relationship through different stages of political ties between the U.S and Taiwan. First, the target was to understand Chinese politics and popular culture from a Taiwanese perspective. Then, this research analyzed the differences between Taiwanese and Chinese perspectives on global issues from previous polls as well as informal discussions with Taiwanese locals. Having extrapolated this information, we are able to demonstrate the distinct intricacies and tenuous relationship between the three nations. | en_US |
