Literature’s ability to represent real-world environmental and social issues plays an important role in addressing these issues. In some cases, literature can provide answers that other sources of information cannot. This thesis analyzes literary and filmic arts in order to understand the complexities of cases of environmental injustice. By analyzing pieces of literature from two geographic regions, this project outlines similar patterns within different contexts. My research shows that linking the issues of environmental injustice with their representations in the arts can provide compelling insights into the common elements of violations of social, economic, and environmental landscapes.en_US
