This report is the result of a preliminary literature review to understand the state of the value-added forest products industry in Oregon and how it has changed over the last two decades. The first section describes the overall trends in Oregon’s forest product industry as a whole over the last two decades, particularly looking at the relative changes in the primary and secondary wood products industries. Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) codes are used to provide a basic understanding of these trends at the State level, as well as for Lake, Klamath, Jackson and Josephine Counties. The second section includes some general information concerning markets for value-added wood products. The final section identifies questions and next steps for further research to gain a more complete picture of opportunities in the value-added industry in Oregon. Attached as an appendix is the literature review of sources used in this report and other documents related to the value-added industry.en
