| dc.description.abstract | FEIS proposes to use prescribed fire, commercial thinning, noncommercial thinning, grapple piling, and hard piling in the west half of the Maury Mountains to maintain and increase current and future late and old structure forest habitat, increase forested stands resiliency to insect and disease attack, seeking to maintain and increase the acreage of low intensity fire conditions and reduce current fuel loadings to near historic levels. Includes 7763 acres of commercial thinning, 13,974 acres of prescribed fire, 11,728 acres of noncommercial thinning, and 3833 acres of grapple piling. Record of decision announces implementation of Alternative 2 with some modifications to reduce adverse effects to goshawk habitat and water quality, and to reduce the amount of commercial timber harvest by 767 acres, noncommercial thinning by 524 acres, underburning by 311 acres, and grapple piling by 280 acres. | en |
