dc.description.abstract | The intent of this report is to assist the many interested parties who seek to preserve, interpret, utilize and enjoy the historic Cloud Cap Inn by informing decision making processes to further the preservation of this historic cultural resource. This historic structure report is written in partial fulfillment of the academic requirements for the degree of Master of Science in Historic Preservation at the University of Oregon under Program Director Professor Kingston Wm. Heath. This historic structure report will especially benefit the building's owner and tenant, the United States Forest Service and the Hood River Crag Rats Mountain Rescue Association respectively, who have judiciously maintained and preserved the building in tandem since 1954. The Crag Rats have conducted a majority of modern preservation work undertaken at the inn through a special use permit with the United States Forest Service. Their work on the Cloud Cap Inn has been in compliance with the Oregon State Historic Preservation Office since 1974 when the property was individually listed on the National Register of Historic Places. | en_US |
