dc.description.abstract | This report is designed as a tool to develop strategies to increase the local economic benefit from forest and watershed restoration activities in the Siuslaw Basin. This information can be used as a background information to help identify areas of opportunity for local contractors as well as draw attention to current federal contracting trends. The report has four major parts. First, it analyzes the distribution and types of service and construction contracts awarded by the Siuslaw National Forest and Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Eugene District from 2001 to 2005, specifically examining the distribution of service and construction contracts to firms local. Second, it assess the contracting activity of non-profit organizations that undertake restoration activities. Third, the document reports projections of upcoming restoration work. Finally, it discusses local contracting capacity to perform restoration work in the basin. | en |
