dc.description.abstract‘The Dunwich Horror’ is a chamber opera in three scenes composed by Jacob Lee with a libretto by the composer, based on the 1928 novella by H.P. Lovecraft. It concerns the ostracized Whateley family, each of whom engage with interdimensional monstrosities to exact vengeance on the town of Dunwich. The outcome proves increasingly disastrous for the Dunwich townsfolk as one of the Whateleys is not what they seem. The opera is scored for six vocal soloists (soprano, two mezzo-sopranos, alto, tenor, and baritone) and chamber orchestra. The duration of the work is approximately one hour.en_US
