Abstract
The document is divided into two main sections. Section one will discuss listening, communicating, and synchronizing and the different ways students will be utilizing these skills while performing in a string quartet. This section will highlight specific examples from the Jansa Quartet which will help to teach students the three skills listed above. Section two of the document will focus on structuring lessons for ten weeks with the goal of the students performing the first movement of the Jansa in the tenth week. While part one focuses on the skills of listening, communicating, and synchronizing, this part will focus on how to work on these skills while coaching specific sections of the quartet. There are ten weeks of lessons planned out in detail which highlight options for first time coaches looking to work on this piece with a beginning string quartet.
