The humanistic aspect of healing is a key component of rehabilitation. While improving oneà ¢ s health is a personal journey of the self, it is also a relationship with a greater public community, be it medical professionals, neighbors, or the strangers interacted with on the street. Ultimately, a new facility for rehabilitative medicine should first address the standards of patient activity during their waking hours and define what division of programmatic needs for both private space and public interaction will best prepare individuals for a return to life in an urban community.en
