Abstract

Specific objectives of the LSR Assessment include: 1) Determine the Desired Conditions for the vegetative resources within the LSR in order to achieve the Standards and Guidelines that are specified within the NWFP; 2) Identify opportunities for short and long-term management actions to improve the sustainability of habitats for late-successional habitat dependent species; 3) Identify actions to reduce risks associated with epidemic insect and disease infestations and related risks of large-scale fire events to the extent practical; and 4) Address the issue of connectivity between LSRs.

Description

Cultus Mountain LSR (18,000 acres) and Sheridan Mountain LSR (31,030 acres) are located in the western portion of the Bend-Fort Rock Ranger District, approximately 26 miles and 18 miles respectively southwest of Bend, in the Eastern Oregon Physiographic Province.
