Abstract
This study looks at the relationships between artists and international nongovernmental
organizations in humanitarian work. Creative solutions to humanitarian needs and assistance
have become increasingly important in world affairs since the end of the Cold War. The study
addresses four main topical areas: the mobilization of artists, artists’ groups and international
arts approaches; the role of international non-governmental organizations in crisis areas;
models of peacebuilding and humanitarian work; and trends within Latin America. The study
provides data to add to a growing and innovative body of research necessary for professionals
in peacebuilding and arts fields as well as the non-governmental sector.
