Abstract
Proposes to implement an ecological restoration project to manage encroaching juniper on both public and private lands by utilizing prescribed fire and mechanical treatments. Includes reintroducing fire to restore and/or maintain natural fire regimes; reducing hazardous fuels, especially within previously treated juniper cuts; moving the species composition and structure of big sagebrush-bunchgrass, low sagebrush-bunchgrass, aspen and riparian communities toward pre-European immigration conditions; improving big game, sage-grouse, and other locally important species habitat; increasing wild horse and livestock forage, and improving watershed health.
