| dc.description.abstract | FEIS proposes recovery plan for 2002 fire, including reduction of upland fuels available to future wildland fires by removing fire-killed trees through harvest on 3,344 acres; increase resiliency of residual timber stands; retain trees and coarse woody debris for site protection, wildlife and soil; replace old growth areas damaged by fire; improve watershed conditions and reduce road-related impacts; and salvage economic value of dead and dying trees. Record of decision announces implementation of Alternative 4, which balances the need to reduce future fuel loading and promote recovery of the burned landscape while capturing the economic value of the trees. | en |
