Abstract

The purpose of this plan is to focus on promoting walking for transportation purposes in Clackamas County. As the county seeks to reduce the number of automobile trips to reduce traffic congestion and associated problems, walking will be an important component of the County Transportation Plan. The Pedestrian Plan describes the tasks necessary to accomplish the vision of the plan, which is to create an environment which encourages people to walk in a networked system that facilitates and promotes the enjoyment of walking as a safe and convenient transportation mode. Plan elements will be incorporated into the County Transportation Plan, Comprehensive Plan and the Zoning and Development Ordinance as necessary. [From the Plan]
