dc.description.abstract | This project is about the pervasiveness of neo-liberal ideology as it influences the conception and delivery of services in the field of re-entry. Re-entry refers to the release from prison as it is experienced by convicted criminals. Ex-offenders face specific challenges due to prisonization including procuring housing, education and employment in addition to compromised health, social acceptance and family issues. The manner in which we, as a society, decide to address the problem of re-entry requires significant ethical and political considerations. I discuss the ways in which re-entry organizations, and most specifically a small non-profit in Minnesota, align their administrative structures, financial priorities and programs according to a neo-liberal paradigm. | en_US |
