Abstract
Teaching Artist practices are a critical component of training artists in the 21st century. This paper explores the history and current state of the field of Teaching Artists, in addition to comparing and contrasting the methods of Teaching Artists in comparison with university pedagogical methods for clarinetists. The research conducted throughout this paper is primarily literature based, and although there is a focus on clarinet pedagogy, the research concludes that the unique and diverse skills of Teaching Artists are essential to achieving success as an artist in the 21st century.
