I-5 Willamette River Bridge Project

The Interstate 5 Willamette River Bridge replacement project was funded through the third Oregon Transportation Investment Act in 2003. Many of Oregon’s highway bridges were built in the mid-20th century and were in need of attention. OTIA III was established to improve Oregon’s highway system, including repairing and replacing hundreds of deficient bridges throughout the state. During design and construction of the new Whilamut Passage Bridge, ODOT asked local community members in Eugene, Springfield and surrounding areas to give their input about what they wanted to see in the design of the bridge.

This collection contains materials relating to public involvement produced and collected by the Oregon Department of Transportation and its contractors throughout the process of designing and constructing the Interstate 5 Willamette River Bridge project. This is not an exhaustive collection as some materials may not have been collected/documented within this archive. For more information on materials not seen here please contact Ask ODOT.
