Abstract

Microrheology has successfully illuminated and quantified the material properties of small, three dimensional fluid samples. It has been less often utilized to examine the two dimensional viscosity of materials such as the lipid bilayer, where several complications make experiments difficult. Here, I discuss two new methods that should provide a general framework for characterizing the fluid properties of two dimensional materials. This dissertation includes previously published coauthored material.
