Abstract:
This paper will focus on the Christopher Alexander identified pattern: Old
People Everywhere (ALEX). The rising tide of senior citizens, the
implications of solitude on health and wellbeing, and the increasing cost of
housing in general, argue for the inclusion of the elderly within mixed-use,
dense, and urban housing schemes. New housing models that suit a wide
variety of age groups, including seniors are needed. A few basic design
considerations are proposed in the following report.
