Abstract

The purpose of this plan is to provide hazard mitigation recommendations in light of the recent disaster events in Myrtle Creek and the State of Oregon (DR-1149 and DR-1160). For the purposes of this plan, the definition of Hazard Mitigation will be defined as “any action taken to eliminate or reduce the risk to human life, property and the environment posed by a hazard.” It should be noted that all information and recommendations contained in this report may serve as the basis for an update or revision to the State of Oregon’s Natural Hazards Mitigation Plan (required under Section 409 of the Stafford Act). In addition, all mitigation policy recommendations presented within this plan should be implemented as soon as possible by Myrtle Creek to help prevent and offset similar disaster related damages that could occur in a future flood event.
