Abstract
The City and Urban Renewal Board actively implement the 2000 Downtown
Action. Specifically, many components of the plan have been successfully
implemented â including streetscape and alley enhancements, and the creation
of public parking and public spaces. A summary of recommended actions within
the plan included:
strengthen the 6th Street commercial core
â ¢ Encourage pedestrian oriented commercial & office development to the
west of 6th Street;
improve the alley between 6th & 7th from Deschutes to Evergreen;
provide pleasant street linkages to the Fred Meyer shopping center, Dry
Canyon Park and along US 97;
provide a consistent sidewalk system in the downtown core;
create a public plaza for civic gatherings & celebrations;
provide adequate, well identified customer & visitor parking. [From the Document]
