dc.description.abstract | The Ashland Area, a well-settled agricultural subdistrict, is the southeastern-most segment of the arable valley lands of the Medford District of Jackson County, Oregon. The city of Ashland and the Ashland Area function as an important commercial and industrial section of the Medford District, although the Area lies in close proximity to the Medford focus of province and district life and is a part of the same contiguous valley system. The Area is set apart by natural physical features but its significant regionality lies in its nodal character. | en_US |
