The ordinance amends Chapter 17.52.220 - Tree Protection and Removal, of the Municipal Code. Substantive amendments reorganize the 2008 ordinance to clarify and simplify it and to adjust notice procedures. Other changes allow the owners of all single-family lots, not just those developed before September 2008, to cut trees without a permit; give owners of lots capable of subdivision an exemption from the permit requirement within 50 feet of their dwelling; reduce the size of required replacement trees from 2 Vz-inch caliper to 1 /4-inch caliper, decreasing cost by about one-third; modify requirements for tree replacement.en_US
