Abstract
For many years, and perhaps more often since the advent of the current feminist movement, people have asked, “Why can’t women achieve like men?” In many ways it is ironic that this question would even be asked. If we look at the achievement of girls and boys in schools we see that there are few differences in overall scores on standardized achievement tests (although skills may vary from one area to another) and that girls consistently get better grades than boys in all subjects, from first grade through graduate school.
