dc.description.abstractIn this taped lecture, Marion Dean Ross provides an historical overview of the residential architecture of Eugene, Oregon, with references to similar structures and precedents in the state and elsewhere. His coverage includes early works dating to the 1850s up to mid-20th century Northwest Regional styles. Ross (1913-1991) was a pioneer in the study of Pacific Northwest architecture, particularly that of Oregon. He was a professor of art history at the University of Oregon from 1947 to 1978, and in 1963 became the first chair of the Department of Art History.en_US
