dc.description.abstract | This paper is an introduction to the processes of osmoregulation and ionic regulation in Crustacea, and a s elected review of the literature pertinent to a study of those processes. The problems of adaptation to the environment and flexibility in the face of changing environmental influences are basic to an understanding of the evolution of morphological and physiological characteristics. This paper will attempt to elucidate the role of regulation of ions and water in facilitating ecological flexibility, and the limits imposed on creatures that lack this ability. | en_US |
