Abstract

Announces decision to authorize the implementation of the Proposed Action Alternative as described in the Bell Mountain Commercial Thinning and Density Management Environmental Assessment. The Bell Mountain Commercial Thinning and Density Management will occur on four scattered units (approximately 151 acres) of 47 to 54 year-old second-growth forest located in the Elk Creek/Upper Umpqua Fifth-Field Watershed in Sections 14, 23, and 27; T22S, R07W; W.M. Within these 151 acres, approximately two acres will be removed for the development of temporary spur roads. Bell Mountain will provide approximately 2.5 MMBF of merchantable timber available for auction. Approximately 288 MBF is within the GFMA portion of the sale and 2,190 MBF is within Riparian Reserves.
