Title: Aging and Disability Resource Connection: Market Testing with Focus Groups
Author: West, Amanda; Steiner, Bethany; Patricolo, Francesca; Parcell, Serena
Abstract: An Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC) serves as a highly visible and trusted place where people, specifically older adults of any income level, adults (aged 18 and older) with disabilities, and their families, friends, and caregivers, can turn for unbiased, reliable information on the full range of long-term support options. An ADRC provides a seamless entry point to LTC services and supports – consumers can call one number, come to one organization, talk to one person, and begin the process of having their needs met. CPW conducted seven focus groups to collect information from potential users on two primary subjects: (1) how to reach them better through ADRC marketing materials, and (2) what types of information to include on the Healthy Living portion of the ADRC website. Focus group participants reviewed prototypes of brochures and posters and then discussed types of information they would like to see on the future Healthy Living website. The information gathered will be used to improve the ADRC marketing plan to promote the pilot ADRC sites and ADRC website, and to provide input in the development of a Healthy Living section of the ADRC website.
