Abstract

There is a huge amount of literature available on the Web about the topic of games in education. However, most of it is testimonial, rather than solid research. As I was writing my book, I spent a lot of time reading and browsing the available literature, paying special attention to the research. I talked to a large number of teachers and other people who are interested in the field. In addition, I drew upon my many years of experience in the field of education. However, I did not conduct any empirical research in the field of games in education. Thus, this book is based on an analysis and synthesis of research and practitioner knowledge. This paper was originally presented July 6, 2006 at NECC 2006 in San Diego.
