This plan was developed with and for the following jurisdictions: Coos County and the cities of Bandon, Coos Bay, Coquille, Lakeside, Myrtle Point, North Bend, and Powers. These are the same jurisdictions that were represented in the 2005 Coos County Natural Hazards Mitigation Plan. It is impossible to predict exactly when natural hazards will occur, or the extent to which they will affect the community. However, with careful planning and collaboration among public agencies, private sector organizations, and citizens within the community, it is possible to minimize the losses that can result from natural hazards. Natural hazard mitigation is defined as a method of permanently reducing or alleviating the losses of life, property, and injuries resulting from natural hazards through long and short-term strategies. Example strategies include policy changes, such as updated ordinances, projects, such as seismic retrofits to critical facilities; and education and outreach to targeted audiences, such as Spanish speaking residents or the elderly. Natural hazard mitigation is the responsibility of individuals, private businesses and industries, state and local governments, and the federal government.Item Open Access North Bend Notice of Adopted Amendment (2009-09-10)(North Bend, 2009-09-10) North Bend (Or.)Amended Chapter 18.48 Floodplain Zone F-P, Title 18 Zoning, North Bend Municipal Code and adoption of new DFIRM Maps dated 09/25/09,Item Open Access North Plains Notice of Adopted Amendment (2008-05-21)(North Plains, 2008-05-21) North Plains (Or.)Item Open Access North Plains Notice of Adopted Amendment (2008-01-15)(North Plains, 2008-01-15) North Plains (Or.)Item Open Access North Plains Notice of Adopted Amendment (2007-10-17)(North Plains, 2007-10-17) North Plains (Or.)Item Open Access North Plains Notice of Adopted Amendment (2007-09-06)(North Plains, 2007-09-06) North Plains (Or.)Item Open Access North Plains Notice of Adopted Amendment (2007-05-09)(North Plains, 2007-05-09) North Plains (Or.)Item Open Access North Bend Notice of Adopted Amendment (2007-04-13)(North Bend, 2007-04-13) North Bend (Or.)Zoning Code amendments to allow residential uses outright in all commercial zones on upper floors and in the rear 75% of single-story buildings.Item Open Access North Bend Notice of Adopted Amendment (2007-04-12)(North Bend, 2007-04-12) North Bend (Or.)Item Open Access North Plains Notice of Adopted Amendment (2007-03-15)(North Plains, 2007-03-15) North Plains (Or.)Item Open Access North Plains Notice of Adopted Amendment (2007-02-16)(North Plains, 2007-02-16) North Plains (Or.)Item Open Access North Bend Notice of Adopted Amendment (2007-02-15)(North Bend, 2007-02-15) North Bend (Or.)Text amendment to Coos Bay Estuary Management Plan Segment 52NA and a new Exception #28 to allow filling and construction of a seawall to expand the taxiwav of SW OR Regional Airport to meet FAA requirements.
