The University of Oregon’s Ocean and Coastal Law Center was dedicated to research and education in the law and regulations that concern and affect the uses of the ocean, its resources, and the coastal zone. The center combined the efforts of law faculty specialists and advanced law students to research and analyze ocean and coastal legal issue and to publish the results.
The program is now part of the Environmental and Natural Resources Law Center, located in the university's William W. Knight Law Center.

Item Restricted Place-Based Ocean Management: Emerging U.S. Law and Practice(2007-11) Hildreth, Richard G.Marine protected areas and marine reserves are being established in United States ocean waters under several federal and state laws. This article evaluates U.S. place-based ocean management from the perspectives of relevant international law principles and programs and foreign nation experiences relevant to the U.S. It then focuses on the challenges presented in managing multiple uses of U.S. ocean waters in the face of federal and state jurisdictional complexity.
