The house is located at the western edge of the historic commercial core on Third Street in McMinnville, Oregon. The house is recognized as a rank A property on the City's Cultural Resource Inventory because of its association with Samuel and Mahala Cozine. The Cozines are significant to the history of McMinnville as they were one of the first three families to settle in the area. They are also important for their generous contribution of land to McMinnville College, now known as Linfield College, which led to the establishment of this fine school which has a nationally respected reputation.
