This current effort to move "Beyond the Vision" began in November of 200 I with two workshops that included all the elected officials of the five jurisdictions in this joint effort. Based on the VISION created by our community, the elected officials identified capital improvements and operating projects that could be jointly implemented at a cost savings to local taxpayers. The Yamhill County Comprehensive Plan was prepared and adopted prior to the development of LCDC's statewide planning goals.... The preparation of the Plan was a joint effort of the Board of County Commissioners, the Planning Commissioners of the County, McMinnville and Newberg, representatives of the small city planning commissions, eight County planning advisory committees and all those interested citizens who appeared at the public hearings on the Plan or contacted the County offices to offer their comments, ideas and proposals.... This document is the Comprehensive Plan for Yamhill County. The planning area includes all of Yamhill County, with full consideration of its ten member cities and the large Federal ownerships in the western part of the County. Piecemeal efforts at preparing and implementing plans for major sections of the County and a number of its cities have been carried out in recent years, but nearly all of these projects have been carried out on a one-time, consulting basis and lacked sufficient scope, resources and political and citizen commitment. This study is the first major effort undertaken by the County government and the citizens themselves utilizing their own resources to chart the future for all of the Yamhill County community and follow through with a strong commitment to implementation. The Yamhill County Natural Hazards Mitigation Plan includes resources and information that will assist county residents, public and private sector organizations and other interested people in participating in natural hazard mitigation activities. The key activities are summarized in a five-year action plan. The Five-Year Action Plan Matrix lists the activities that will assist Yamhill County in reducing risk and preventing loss from future natural hazard events. The action items address multihazard issues, as well as activities for flood, landslide, wildfire, severe winter storm, windstorm, drought, and earthquake. [From the Plan]

Yamhill County : Transportation system plan

Yamhill County Transportation System Plan (TSP) examines both short and long-term transportation needs. In the short term, the study identifies and provides solutions to immediate safety and congestion problems. For the future, the study looks at 20-year horizon, 50-year horizon and how to best move people and goods efficiently throughout the County. The transportation needs for the cities of McMinnville and Newberg have been established in their recently published Transportation System Plans. Planning for roadways in the Urban Reserve Areas for Newberg and McMinnville is covered by their Transportation System Plans. [From the Plan]

The purpose and intent of this Ordinance shall be to promote the historic, educational, cultural, economic and general welfare of the public through the preservation, restoration and protection of buildings, structures and appurtenances, sites, places and elements of historic and archaeological value and interest within Yamhill County....The provisions of this ordinance shall apply to significant historic landmarks and archaeologically, sensitive areas designated in the adopted inventory and identified on the Significant Resource Areas (SRA) Map.
