    Curry County developed this multi-jurisdictional Natural Hazard Mitigation Plan in an effort to reduce future loss of life and damage to property resulting from natural hazards. This plan was developed with and for the following jurisdictions: Curry County and the cities of Brookings, Gold Beach, and Port Orford. These are the same jurisdictions that were represented in the 2005 Curry County Natural Hazards Mitigation Plan. It is impossible to predict exactly when natural hazards will occur, or the extent to which they will affect the community. However, with careful planning and collaboration among public agencies, private sector organizations, and citizens within the community, it is possible to minimize the losses that can result from natural hazards.

They include two components: a zoning ordinance and a subdivision ordinance, which may be adopted and published as separate documents under their own titles.     This Summary of Goals to Implement Community and Economic Development may be used alone or in conjunction with the Port Orford Strategic Plan for Community and Economic Development (Strategic Plan), Revision of May 15, 2001 which provides the community profile, community vision, action agenda and Port Orford area goals. The Strategic Plan was developed in 1995-96 through the combined efforts of the Port Orford Community Response Team and Rural Development Initiatives, using a public involvement process, with participation from throughout the region. At the request of the Port Orford City Council, the Strategic Plan was reviewed and revised by the Port Orford Planning Commission in 2001 to reflect accomplishments and changing conditions in the community.     The Port Orford Transportation System Plan (TSP) guides the management of existing transportation facilities and the design and implementation of future facilities for the next 20 years. This TSP constitutes the transportation element of the City's Comprehensive Plan and satisfies the requirements of the Oregon Transportation Planning Rule (TPR) established by the Department of Land Conservation and Development. It identifies and prioritizes transportation projects for inclusion in the Oregon Department of Transportation's (ODOT's) Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP).... The Port Orford TSP was prepared as part of an overall effort in Curry County to prepare TSPs for Curry County and the municipalities of Brookings, Port Orford, and Gold Beach. [From the Plan]
