An original English translation of Igor Efimov's chapter from his memoir, Ties of the Times: Notes of a Nobleman in a New World, in which he discusses his visit to the University of Oregon. The series of lectures that he delivered while at the University of Oregon were dedicated to rehabilitation literature, including the works of authors and poets who had been returned to Russian readers after 1990: Merezhkovsky, Tsvetaeva, Nabokov, Mandelstam, Solzhenitsyn, and Brodsky. Tapes of these lectures are available upon request from the University of Oregon libraries.
