Bilingual Theatre is the art of theatre where two languages, two cultures, and two communities are bridged together on stage. This thesis delves into the challenges and realities of creating a bilingual piece of theatre, as there is not a lot of research on the subject matter. Through research on translation, surtitles, and bilingual acting methods, the practical realities of creating such theatre are brought to light. Additionally, this thesis includes the process of rehearsals for an enhanced stage reading, alongside the writing process of The Love De Una Madre- the final product of this endeavor. The thesis provides insight from a talkback conducted after the enhanced stage reading where bilingual and nonbilingual audience members gave their opinions on bilingual theatre and how it works in US theatre. Within this process is a discovery of identity, and a broader connection to culture.en_US
