Abstract

Though the Planning Area is treated as a whole for some purposes, such as traffic planning, for other purposes such as land use and zoning, the division into neighborhoods facilitates discussion of specific problems.... The planning process for the Corbett/Terwilliger/Lair Hill neighborhood began in the fall of 1972 in response to three major factors: the effect of urban renewal in the South Auditorium Area and its potential impact on the future development of the Lair Hill and Corbett neighborhoods; the construction of the Johns Landing development and its effect on the surrounding Terwilliger residential neighborhood; the possible improvements to Macdam Avenue and their effect on business in the Macadam Corridor.
