Abstract
This thesis comprises six works of short fiction. These stories are diverse in origin,
plot, and character, but bound by the theme of threatened romantic relationships. Admittedly,
stories about romance abound; authors fair and poor have made their living
from them. Part of what makes this collection distinct is the focus I have placed upon
the craft element of setting, both in outside reading and my own writing.
